UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN (UBA)

The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan(UBA) is a flagship program of the Ministry for Human Resource Development (MHRD). It is inspired by the vision of transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging knowledge institutions to help build an Inclusive Indian architecture and rural areas’ development.

Indian Institute of Technology, Hauz Khaz, New Delhi, has been designated the National Co-ordinating Institute by the Ministry.

Our Institution/University/College, i.e., Rayburn College, Churachandpur, AISHE code C-9438, has become a Participating Institute (PI) in UBA. Dr. Kh. Thianminlian Vaiphei, Vice-Principal, Rayburn College, Churachandpur, Manipur, has been appointed as the Co-ordinator and is duly authorized to carry out the activities of UBA in our organization.

Under the UBA program, every Participating Institute is to adopt a cluster of five villages in consultation with the Districts Collector.

The adopted villages are:-

  1. Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) activities during the nationwide lockdown in Churachandpur: On April 4, 2020, i.e., during the nationwide lockdown on account of Covid-19, the Participating Institute(PI) of UBA (Unnat Bharat Abhiyan), Rayburn College, Churachandpur, Manipur is the first of its kind to respond to the crisis and swing into action to combat Coronavirus at the local level capacity within Churachanpur District. The PI team organized a talk on ‘Preventive Measures and Awareness of Coronavirus” at Mualkot Village (one of UBA’s adopted villages). During this, the Project Coordinator emphasized the need to adhere to and strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Essential equipment, including masks, hand sanitizers, and vitamin tablets, were distributed among the locality.

The PI, at some point of time during the lockdown, also acts as an intermediary and nodal point, participating in the distribution of essential items provided by the government, both central and state, in mutual collaboration with designated agencies.
