With the introduction of the Science stream in the college, the Department of Botany was established in the year 2020. It has a well-equipped laboratory and classrooms with excellent teaching aids and is actively involved in teaching and research. The Department has two botanical gardens, one within the campus and another at Mata Village, of approximately 2.0 acres. The duty-conscious and deeply devoted staff members maintain a high standard for our esteemed institution’s Botany department.

To achieve excellence in the study of plant sciences by disseminating and creating knowledge, addressing modern-day challenges, coexisting, unravelling the prime role of plants in the evolution, synergy of nature and conserving with human touch through quality education and research.

  • To acquaint the students with the world of flora by collecting, identifying and presenting specimens.
  • To cultivate the applied knowledge of Plant Science that leads to progression in skill development and professional talents.
  • To produce academically proficient, professionally competent and socially responsible graduates in Plant Sciences and serve society’s needs.
  • Teaching is more practical oriented; learning by seeing & learning by doing makes the subject more exciting and easier to grasp.
  • Whenever possible, plants are studied in their natural habitat by outdoor excursions.
  • Project-based learning is undertaken.
  • Students Seminars on different topics related to the subject.
  • ICT-based teaching learning in addition to conventional methods.
  • Guidance and counselling have been given about career opportunities available/placement options.
  • Visits to national and state-level research laboratories for the hands-on training program.
  • Botanical Club was established in 2021.
  • Student mentoring is taken care of with utmost concern
  • Maintenance of College Botanical garden with a diverse group of plants.
  • Mushroom cultivation was introduced as a part of Skill Enhancement Courses.
  • The Herbarium deposition has a rich flora collection from the Southern District of Manipur
  • Students are taken to various industries to increase their exposure to various industrial applications of Botany
