Rayburn College NSS and Skill Development Cell, in collaboration with the District Hospital, organized an informative seminar on “HIV Prevention & Treatment” on 3rd September 2025. The Resource Person for the programme is Mr T. Benjamin, Supervisor, DAPCU. The program aimed to raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic, address misconceptions, and promote proactive strategies for prevention and treatment.
The seminar highlighted the current state of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, focusing on both global and national perspectives. Medical experts and resource persons from the District Hospital shared valuable insights on advancements in prevention methods, including safe practices, testing, and early diagnosis. They also discussed the latest treatment strategies, emphasizing the importance of adherence to antiretroviral therapy and regular medical care.
Beyond medical knowledge, the session aimed to combat stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV/AIDS. Participants were encouraged to adopt a compassionate and informed approach toward individuals living with HIV, recognizing that social support plays a crucial role in effective management.
The event was highly impactful, equipping students and participants with essential knowledge to become informed advocates for HIV awareness and prevention in their communities. The college reaffirmed its commitment to health education, social responsibility, and community engagement through initiatives like this seminar.
