Rayburn College and Indo-Myanmar Borderland Institute Hosts Special Guest

Rayburn College, in collaboration with Indo-Myanmar Borderland Institute, had the honour of hosting a very important dignitary, namely Shri Mmhonlumo Kikon, who visited Churachandpur district in an unofficial capacity for selected meetings on the 13th of November 2025.

Mr. Kikon was a Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for two consecutive terms from 2013 till 2023, and a minister in the government of Nagaland. He also held the position of advisor to the government of Nagaland and held the portfolios of labour, employment, and skill development in the same government. He was the only national spokesperson of the BJP from the Northeast and was also the Prabhari (in-charge) of Mizoram state for the party for three years.

He is an ASPEN Fellow and the author of three poetry collections: The Penmi Poems (2018) and The Village Empire (2019) and Slingstones (2021). In his capacity as an author and a poet, he delivered a public lecture on the topic “Frontiers of Empire: Colonial Legacies and the Politics of Identity” and also shared about the lived realities of borderland communities. The lecture was followed by an interactive session and book signing of his latest book  “His Majesty’s Headhunters: The Siege of Kohima that Shaped World History” (2023) published by Penguin.
