One-Day Workshop on Project/Seminar Proposal Writing

The Department of History, Rayburn College, successfully organized a One-Day Workshop on "Project/Seminar Proposal Writing" with the objective of enhancing students' and faculty members' understanding of the principles and techniques involved in preparing effective research project and seminar proposals. The workshop aimed to develop participants' academic writing skills and familiarize them with the standard structure, methodology, and presentation of research proposals.

The programme commenced with an inaugural session, where the Dr. Ginneihching welcomed the speaker and participants, and emphasized the importance of proposal writing in academic research and higher education. The resource person, Dr. Thathang Vaiphei, introduced the fundamentals of research proposal writing, highlighting the significance of selecting a relevant research topic, formulating research objectives and questions, reviewing existing literature, choosing appropriate research methodology, and preparing realistic timelines and budgets where applicable.

Throughout the workshop, participants received practical guidance on drafting project and seminar proposals. The sessions covered essential components such as the title, introduction, statement of the problem, objectives, research questions, hypothesis, literature review, research methodology, expected outcomes, references, and formatting guidelines. Interactive discussions, examples of successful proposals, and hands-on writing exercises enabled participants to apply the concepts learned during the sessions.

The resource person also discussed common mistakes to avoid in proposal writing and shared valuable tips for preparing proposals that meet academic and funding requirements. Participants actively engaged in question-and-answer sessions, seeking clarification on various aspects of research design and proposal preparation.
