
A one-day seminar on “Social Exclusion and Inclusion Policy” was successfully conducted by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Rayburn College in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Manipur University. The seminar aimed to explore critical issues related to migration, borderland dynamics, and their socio-economic impacts.
Inauguration & Welcome Address
The event commenced with a welcome note by Miss Lalngaihawmi, Director of IQAC, Rayburn College, who highlighted the importance of inclusive policies in addressing social disparities.
Lecture by Rev. Dr. Khen P. Tombing - “The Left Behind Due to Migration in Churachandpur”
The first session was led by Rev. Dr. Khen P. Tombing, Principal of Rayburn College, who presented his study on the social, psychological, economic, and spiritual impacts of migration on households left behind due to migration in Churachandpur town. His research shed light on the challenges faced by families due to outmigration, including emotional distress, financial instability, and weakened community ties. He emphasized the need for policy interventions to support affected families through welfare programs and community-based initiatives.
Lecture by K. Vungzamawi - “Indo-Myanmar Borderland: Evolution and Strategic Importance”
The second lecture was delivered by K. Vungzamawi, Associate Professor, Lamka College, who discussed the historical evolution and geopolitical significance of the Indo-Myanmar borderland. His talk covered:
