Digital Literacy Awareness Programme

The Department of Zoology, Rayburn College, organized a Digital Literacy Awareness Programme in collaboration with Punjab National Bank (PNB) on 23 July 2026 at 2:00 PM in Rayburn College. The programme was conducted to promote digital financial literacy and create awareness among students about the growing threat of financial cyber fraud.

The resource person for the programme was Miss Vungnunsiam, Scale II Manager, Punjab National Bank, Churachandpur Branch who was accompanied by her team. She delivered an informative and interactive session on digital banking, financial security, and the precautions necessary to safeguard against online fraud.

During her presentation, she explained various types of digital financial frauds, including phishing scams, fake UPI payment requests, OTP frauds, QR code scams, identity theft, and fraudulent phone calls and messages. She emphasized the importance of safeguarding personal banking information, using strong passwords, verifying transaction requests, avoiding suspicious links, and never sharing confidential details such as OTPs, PINs, or CVV numbers with anyone.

The session also highlighted the importance of reporting cyber fraud promptly to the bank and the appropriate cybercrime authorities. Through practical examples and real-life case studies, the resource person helped students understand the common methods used by cybercriminals and the preventive measures that can be adopted to ensure secure digital transactions.

The programme successfully enhanced students' awareness of digital financial security and encouraged the safe and responsible use of digital banking services.
