World Suicide Prevention Day 2026

The Mental Health Club, Rayburn College, in collaboration with the Centre for Community Initiative (CCI), observed World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 on the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide: Start the Conversation.” The programme commenced at 11:00 a.m. with a welcome address by Ma’am Bliss Chinglianniang, Teacher-in-Charge of the Mental Health Club, Rayburn College.

The programme continued with a musical performance by Kimcy Chingmuankim, UG 3rd Semester, Psychology, followed by a talk on “Theological Perspective on Suicide” delivered by Sir H. Liansuanthang, College Chaplain. This was followed by a performance by Chingbiakdik, EE-III, TMI (The Malsawm Initiative), and a talk on “Suicide Prevention and Awareness” by Miss Prescilla Ngaineivah, CCI.

A skit highlighting the importance of awareness, communication, and support was then presented by the Mental Health Club, Rayburn College . The programme also included the declaration of results of the Reels Competition, organised as part of the observance on the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide: Start the Conversation.”

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Sir LMS David, CCI, followed by refreshments for all the attendees. The event served as an opportunity to promote awareness, encourage meaningful conversations, and emphasise the importance of reaching out for support.
