Educational Visit To T&K SciNapse Enterprise

The Department of Zoology, Rayburn College, organized an educational visit to the laboratory of T&K SciNapse Enterprise. The purpose of the visit was to provide the students an informative insight into a professional scientific laboratory that houses multiple preserved specimens and lab requirements, and to observe the extensive collection of wet and dry specimens.

The Department reached the destination at approximately 1:00 pm. The short session was facilitated by Thomas TK Tungnung, Proprietor, T&K SciNapse Enterprise who presented the various specimens he caught and preserved, and conveyed enlightening background information behind each specimen. Preserved specimens ranged from minute insects like beetles and butterflies to reptiles, amphibians and certain mammals, even including apremature baby preserved in a glass box. The skeletal structure of a hen that the facilitator deboned and assembled himself, was kept on a pedestal for all to view.

One of the major objectives of the visit was for students to interact with the researcher about their ongoing work and to grasp the opportunity to learn from the best in the field. The facilitator stressed on the significance of locally available species and their economic importance, and shared his burden on raising awareness regarding the preservation of local species that may potentially extinct in the near future.

All attendees were given the chance to observe each specimen and interact directly with the researcher in regard to questions and doubts one may have, granting each visitor the satiator to all their curiosities. The event was well appreciated and highly impactful and most participants expressed amazement at the specimens which were never seen before. The facilitator's wealth of experience greatly contributed to the success and full enjoyment of the session for all present.

The students and Faculty deeply value the time and opportunity given by T&K SciNapse Enterprise and hope to revisit in the coming semesters or organize similar scholastic events in the future.
