Students’ Orientation Programme

Rayburn College (Autonomous) organised a Students’ Orientation Programme on 13/07/2026 at the College Auditorium to warmly welcome the newly admitted students and familiarise them with the academic environment, institutional values, academic regulations, and support services of the College.

The programme was moderated by Dr. Mercy Chingnunhoih, Academic Dean, who welcomed the gathering and emphasised the significance of the orientation in helping students make a smooth transition into college life. During the programme, the Administrative Heads, Heads of Departments (HoDs), and Faculty Members were formally introduced, providing students with an opportunity to become acquainted with the academic and administrative leadership of the institution.

The Dean of Students’ Welfare, Mr. T. Tawnkhansiam, addressed the students on the College's Code of Conduct, academic discipline, attendance requirements, student support services, grievance redressal mechanisms, and the importance of responsible student behaviour. He also sensitised the students on the institution's Anti-Ragging Policy, reiterating Rayburn College’s commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment. Students were encouraged to uphold the values of mutual respect, integrity, and responsible citizenship throughout their academic journey.

The programme concluded with an inspiring exhortation delivered by the Principal, Rev. Dr. Khen P. Tombing, who encouraged the students to strive for academic excellence, cultivate good character, and make meaningful contributions to the college community. In his address, he encouraged the students to embrace the values encapsulated in the acronym “FAT” as guiding principles for their academic and personal lives: F – Faithful, remaining committed to their studies, responsibilities, and values; A – Available, being willing to learn, serve, participate, and support others whenever opportunities arise; and T – Trustworthy, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and reliability in all their actions. He reminded the students that these qualities are fundamental to becoming responsible individuals, effective leaders, and successful professionals. The programme concluded with a prayer led by the Principal, invoking God’s wisdom, guidance, and blessings upon the students as they embarked on their academic journey.

Following the central orientation programme, the students proceeded to their respective departments, where Departmental Orientation Programmes were conducted by each Head of Department and faculty members. During these sessions, students were introduced to their department’s academic programmes, curriculum structure, course requirements, faculty members, laboratory and library facilities, departmental activities, mentoring system, examination and assessment procedures, and other discipline-specific expectations. The departmental orientation provided students with an opportunity to interact with faculty members, seek clarification on academic matters, and become familiar with their learning environment, thereby ensuring a confident and informed beginning to their higher education journey. The orientation programme successfully acquainted the newly admitted students with the College's vision, mission, academic culture, institutional policies, and support systems, laying a strong foundation for a rewarding and enriching educational experience at Rayburn College.
