A Capacity Building Workshop on “Challenges Facing Higher Education in the Context of Lamka” was organized by Rayburn College on 24th September 2025 for its faculty members, with the aim of addressing key challenges affecting higher education in the local context. The resource person for the workshop was Professor Ginlianlal Buhril, Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University, Mizoram, who shared valuable insights on the current state of higher education and emphasized the urgent need to rebuild foundational values such as commitment, sincerity, ownership, integrity, credibility, discipline, and self-respect—not only among educators but also among students. He stressed that these core values must form the bedrock of any educational institution. The workshop also highlighted the importance of integrating skills-based education into the curriculum, including soft skills, hard skills, and life skills relevant to real-world challenges and daily life. The event concluded with a strong collective commitment to promoting value-based, skill-oriented, and contextually relevant education that can contribute meaningfully to the development of Lamka and beyond.
