The Students’ Orientation Program for the academic year 2025- 26 was held on 10th July, 2025 at 11:30 AM in the Main Auditorium. The program aimed to welcome newly admitted students and provide them with essential insights into academic processes, campus resources, and student life. The event featured addresses from the Principal, Vice Principal, Registrar, and the Dean of Students’ Welfare, and concluded with a prayer for the students’ well-being and success.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by the Moderator. The audience included newly admitted undergraduate students, faculty members, and administrative staff.
The Principal, Rev Dr Khen P Tombing, opened the orientation with a warm and heartfelt welcome to the newly admitted students and their families. His address centered around the idea that the students’ presence at the institution was not a coincidence, but rather a result of divine providence. He affirmed that each student has been brought to this place with a purpose, and that their journey here is part of a greater plan.
The Principal emphasized the deep significance of the institution’s guiding motto:
“Learn, Labour, Serve.”
He explained that this phrase captures the essence of holistic education- encouraging students to gain knowledge, put in consistent effort, and ultimately use their abilities in service of others and the community. It is not enough to be academically excellent; one must also develop a heart for service and social responsibility.
A key theme in the address was the vision to shape students into F.A.T. individuals- those who are:
The Principal encouraged students to embody these attributes in all areas of their academic and personal life, as these are the true marks of leadership and integrity.
The Vice Principal, Dr Kh Thianminlian Vaiphei, addressed the students next, highlighting the importance of discipline, time management, and active participation in academic and co-curricular activities. He emphasized the role of self-responsibility in shaping one’s future.
The Registrar, Dr Samuel G Ngaihte, delivered an inspiring address that emphasized the significance of the students’ presence at the institution. The Registrar began by affirming that their presence was not by coincidence but the result of purpose.
He highlighted that the institution’s vision is not limited to local success but is rooted in preparing students to compete and collaborate on a global stage. The aim is to shape individuals who can confidently match their skills, knowledge, and creativity with students from around the world.
The Registrar underscored the critical role of teachers- not just as instructors, but as mentors and guides who are dedicated to supporting students in every aspect of their academic and personal growth.
Students were strongly encouraged to make the most of the institution’s resources- academic, technical, and personal. He urged them to be proactive, curious, and fully engaged in their learning journey, stating that success comes to those who actively seek knowledge and support.
The Dean of Students’ Welfare, T Tawnkhansiam , addressed the students with a strong emphasis on the importance of personal conduct and discipline during their time at the institution. He highlighted that while the college offers extensive academic and personal support systems, it is equally important for students to uphold the values and standards expected of them.
A key part of the Dean’s address was the reiteration of the Student Code of Conduct, which outlines the expected behavior and responsibilities of every student. Among the most emphasized aspects were punctuality, regular attendance, respect for faculty and peers, and active participation in campus life.
He encouraged students to develop good habits early on, as these would greatly contribute to their academic success and personal development.
In addition to discipline, the Dean spoke about the wide range of student support services available, including counseling, mentorship, health services, and extracurricular activities, all designed to promote a balanced and enriching campus experience.
The program concluded with a heartfelt prayer led by N Thangkhansiam, Chaplain & Counsellor, Rayburn College. The prayer invoked blessings for the students’ academic journey, asking for wisdom, perseverance, and a sense of purpose for each of them.
