The 2-Day Faculty Orientation Program was conducted with the objective of acquainting newly inducted and existing faculty members with the institutional vision, academic framework, administrative procedures, and student welfare policies. The program was held in the Mini Conference Hall on the 8th and 9th of July, 2025.
Day 1: Tuesday, 8th July 2025
Welcome Address:
The program commenced with a warm and inspiring welcome speech by the Principal, who emphasized the importance of faculty in shaping the academic and cultural ethos of the institution. The Principal highlighted the strategic goals for the academic year 2025–26 and encouraged the faculty to actively engage in research, mentoring, and value-based education.
Session by the Dean of Students’ Welfare:
Following the welcome address, the Dean of Students’ Welfare, Sir T Tawnkhansiam delivered an informative session focusing on student support services, mental health initiatives, extracurricular opportunities, and the significance of faculty involvement in student development. The session also covered the code of conduct and mechanisms in place for addressing student grievances.
Session by the Controller of Examination:
The next session was conducted by the Controller of Examination, Sir Liankhoshyam Tunglut who outlined the institutional assessment framework, examination protocols, evaluation criteria, and academic integrity policies. The faculty were briefed on recent changes in assessment guidelines and the importance of timely and transparent evaluation.
Closing Remarks – Day 1:
The first day concluded with a thoughtful note from the Vice Principal, Dr Kh Thianminlian Vaiphei who reiterated the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and collaborative learning.
Day 2: Wednesday, 9th July 2025
Session by the Registrar:
The second day began with a session by the Registrar, Dr Samuel G Ngaihte who provided an overview of administrative procedures, service rules, and faculty welfare schemes. The Registrar also addressed frequently asked questions related to promotions, and compliance matters.
Session by the Academic Dean:
The Academic Dean Ma’am Mercy Chingnunhoih then took the stage to elaborate on curriculum design, teaching-learning innovations, and academic planning. The Dean shared best practices for effective classroom engagement, academic audits, and mentorship responsibilities.
Session by the Director, IQAC:
The program concluded with a closing session by the Director of IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell). The Director emphasized the role of quality assurance in higher education, the importance of feedback systems, accreditation processes, and continuous improvement. The Director also urged faculty to contribute to institutional development through self-reflection, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.
Conclusion:
The 2-Day Faculty Orientation Program proved to be a meaningful platform for dialogue, guidance, and professional enrichment. It successfully introduced the faculty to institutional values, operational frameworks, and strategic priorities. The event marked a constructive beginning to the academic year, setting a tone of purpose and collaboration.
