Rayburn College successfully organized a 3-Day Teaching Staff Orientation Programme from 8th to 10th July, 2026, with the objective of preparing faculty members for the new academic session through academic planning, institutional orientation, quality enhancement, and departmental presentations. The programme served as a platform to strengthen collaboration among faculty members while aligning institutional goals with quality teaching, student development, and academic excellence.
The orientation commenced with a Welcome and Prayer for the New Academic Session led by Rev. Dr. Khen P. Tombing, Principal, invoking God's blessings for the forthcoming academic year. The inaugural session was followed by insightful presentations from Dr. Samuel G. Ngaihte, Registrar, on Rayburn College and Holistic Education, emphasizing the institution's distinctiveness, faculty responsibilities, services, rules, expectations, and professional conduct. The day concluded with a motivating address by Dr. Kh. Thianminlian Vaiphei, Vice-Principal, encouraging faculty members to work collaboratively towards academic excellence and holistic student development.
The second day began with a session on IQAC Matters conducted by Lalngaihawmi, IQAC Director, highlighting quality assurance mechanisms, accreditation requirements, documentation practices, and continuous institutional improvement. This was followed by departmental presentations delivered by the Heads of the Commerce, Economics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, History, Sociology, and English Departments. Each department presented its academic achievements, curriculum plans, innovative teaching practices, research activities, departmental goals, and future strategies for the academic year. The presentations encouraged interdepartmental learning and collaboration among faculty members.
The final day featured presentations from the Geography, Psychology, Botany, and Zoology Departments, showcasing their academic plans and developmental initiatives. Sessions on Student Related Affairs, Examination Concerns, and Academic Affairs were delivered by T. Tawnkhansiam (Dean of Students), Liankhoshyam Tunglut (Controller of Examinations), and Dr. Mercy Chingnunhoih (Academic Dean), respectively. These sessions focused on student welfare, examination reforms, academic regulations, outcome-based education, and institutional expectations for maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
The three-day orientation programme successfully familiarized faculty members with the college's vision, academic policies, quality assurance practices, administrative procedures, and institutional expectations. It also provided an opportunity for departments to share their academic plans and best practices, fostering collaboration and professional growth among the teaching staff. The programme reaffirmed Rayburn College's commitment to delivering holistic, quality, and student-centered education while strengthening the collective efforts of its faculty for the successful implementation of the academic session 2026–2027.
